秋様、お帰りなさい!*

*Please make sure that you pronounce well the “” in 「あき」!
** Mina san, I want a lot of comments on this post! Onegaishimasu^^

Well, summer is over (is it really over?). And now we are in the middle of the most beautiful, fantastic, amazing, interesting, enjoyable, wonderful, marvelous, impressive, unexceptionable, admirable, extraordinary season! (If I know more adjectives I will use ; ))

This post will contain a lecture(!) about momijis, some kanjis related to autumn, famous Japanese song for autumn, with some pictures I picked from the www.

Let’s start with MOMIJIs!

Momiji, “maple” in English, “قيقب” in Arabic has many different kinds all over the world; most of them are native to Asia, as written in Wikipedia. (Here, for Arabic version).

In Japan, maples are treated in a special manners, as there is a custom for viewing the changing colors of maples which is called 「紅葉狩り」=「もみじがり」(狩りliterally means hunting)

--> Wonderful post about momijigari directly from Japan on Amani's World. Please click here.^^

This map shows the time in different regions in Japan when it is the time for “momiji gari”, it lasts from 10 October until 10 December:

Nikko, and Kyoto are the favored destination for this activity.

Maples distribution in Japan is affected by different Physiographic and climatic factors. (read here for more details) (And here for Japanese version).

Now I will introduce you some kinds of maples with different shapes and colors (I translated some of them to Arabic literally, and I choose other names depending on the shape! ^^)

قيقب الصباح

قيقب طائر الزقزاق

القيقب المزهرة

القيقب العشرية

القيقب الشعاعية

القيقب ذات الورقة الواحدة

القيقب الشعرية

قيقب راحة اليد

القيقب الأحادية

القيقب النارية

(please pay attention, this is not “Waraq 3nab!”)

قيقب الشعلة

القيقب العشرية الصغيرة

القيقب ذات الأفرع الصغيرة

شجرة بلسم العيون

(isn’t a nice name? )

القيقب المتفرعة

القيقب الثلاثية

(if I had a cars’ company, I would name the car “mitsudekaede” and I will give it this sign)

القيقب المتفرعة الجنوبية

القيقب الخيزرانية

القيقب الشعاعية المتفرعة

القيقب الكبيرة

قيقب الجبل

القيقب الحديدية

Another names for momiji in Japanese are 〔楓=かえで〕and 〔紅葉=こうよう〕
The latin name for maple is “Acer”. (Who said that I don’t like Acer computers?!)

Ok, the lecture is over! Any questions? Study well because you will have quiz next time! -_^

Now, the kanjis part!

Let’s start with 1)

meaning: Autumn

Kun-yomi : Aki 「あき」
On-yomi: Shuu 「シュウ」

Examples:

1) 私はが好きです。(あき)(I like Autumn)
2) 9月22日は秋分の日です。 (しゅうぶん) (September, 22nd is the Autumnal Equinox Day)

2)葉

meaning: leaf

Kun-yomi: 「は」
On-yomi : 「ヨウ」
Special reading: 「紅葉=もみじ」

Examples:

1) 親切な言葉をどうもありがとう! (ことば) (Thanks for your kind words!)
2) 植物は葉緑素の働きによって生成さ れるものです。(ようりょくそ) (Plants are producers due to the chlorophyll) (?)

3)

meaning: red

Kun-yomi: 「べに、くれない」
On-yomi : 「コウ、ク」
Special reading: 「紅葉=もみじ」

Examples:

1) 「紅林」は日本の名字です。(くればやし) (kurebayashi is a japanese family name)
2) 紅海に行ったことがありますか。 (こうかい) (Have you went to the Red Sea before?)

4)

meaning: maple

Kun-yomi: 「かえで」
On-yomi : 「フウ」

That’s enough for kanji today. ^^

Now the nice autumn song,,,, (♪小さい秋) Enjoy!

hehe, the waraq enab part was funny..

This also happens to me everytime I look at Canada's flag..

"Ok, the lecture is over! Any questions? Study well because you will have quiz next time!"

I hate university :( so glad I graduated.

By the way, you didn't put the kanji meanings in your lesson. Kanji= shape + reading(s) + meaning(s) deshou?!

Also, examples usually teach us new words, but some of the examples you put are difficult to remember and not likely to be ever used like chlorophyll..

/constructive criticism]

Momiji san! I have just listened to the song. It was also used in the anime 三丁目のタマ..The song was often played on spacetoon..but it was about Spring lol
I like it~

saemon san, comment wo doumo arigatou!

Again: it is NOT waraq enab!

Ok, I will add the meanings, you are right. But, for the examples I think they are not that difficult! Also the clorophyll is very suitable example for momijis (green ones, ofcourse!)

k-sensei, comment to shinsetsuna kotoba wo doumo arigatou gozaimasu. yappari arabu no kuni ni aki ga arimasu ga, chiisai aki desu. watashi wa michi wo aruite, achi kochi ochiteiru kiirono ha ya akai ha wo miru to "aah! aki na~" to ureshiku omoimasu. (akai ha wa momiji ja nai noni~)
kono goro, amman wa amari ame ga futteimasen ga, yasashii aki no kaze to attakai hi no hikari wa sugoi kimochi wo ataete kurete imasu.
hontou ni subarashii kimochi desu.

(saki no paragraph ni machigae ga arimasen youni!)

kanji chan, futatsu no comment wo doumo arigatou! (comment no kazu ga fuete kimashita \^o^/ )
kono post wo kaku tame ni, effort to jikan ga kakarimashita. demo, aki ga owaru mae ni dekimashita kara, ima hotto shite imasu ^^
momiji no post ni takusan no shashin wo tsukete kudasai! tanoshimi ni matte imasu -^_^-

It is the same melody of "جاء الربيع أهلاً بالربيع" ??!
I felt that i heard it before!
yappari it was that song!! I heard "chiisai aki" more than 20 times so i can remember where I heard it before, and I couldn't!

>< ohhh, why they made it for spring?! I must complain about that! It is autumn's property!!
It should be "جاء الخريف أهلاً بالخريف بقدوم الخريف يفرح الوجود"!!

momiji wa okotte iru!! >.<

I want to make sure, is this statement correct?
"植物は葉緑素の働きによって生成さ れるものです"?

葉さん~
質問!
When we say 紅葉 do we specifically mean the maple-type trees or any tree that turns red?
OR could it be that only maple-type trees turn red??

momiji said...

good question!
momiji refers to the maple-type trees, which usually turn to red in Autumn. And specifically, it refers to the types that grow in Japan (that why it is called momiji! :p)
Nevertheless, there are other types of trees which turn to red(not only in Autumn), but not classified to be maples. In my house garden, there is a tree that turns to red in Autumn, but it is not momiji. The shape of the leaves is different,I think.

Anyway, there are many many types of maple trees all over the world, that even 葉さん can't recognize!!

momijiさん、日本語、とっても上手です。ほとんど間違いがありません。
でも、日本語の先生ですから、少し直します。

>yappari arabu no kuni ni aki ga arimasu ga,
→arabu no kuni ni mo aki ga arimasu ga,

"aah! aki na~"
→"aah! akida na~"

じゃあ、またね!
